We collect information you provide directly to us:

• Account information: Email address and password when you create an account.
• Content you save: URLs, notes, and any resources you choose to save to Memex.
• Usage data: How you interact with the service, including search queries and features used.

We do not collect payment information. Memex is free to use.

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Memex service
• Process and store your saved resources
• Generate AI summaries and embeddings for your content using Google Gemini APIs
• Enable semantic search across your personal knowledge base
• Send you service-related communications (account verification, security alerts)
• Respond to your comments and questions

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, which provides PostgreSQL databases with row-level security (RLS). This means your data is isolated from other users at the database level - no other user can access your resources, collections, or tags.

We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit (TLS/HTTPS) and at rest. Your password is never stored in plain text.

AI processing: When you save a resource, its content is sent to Google Gemini APIs to generate summaries, tags, and vector embeddings. This processing is governed by Google's API Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. We do not use your content to train AI models.

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

• Service providers: Supabase (database and authentication), Google (AI processing via Gemini APIs), Vercel (hosting). These providers are bound by their own privacy policies.
• Legal requirements: If required by law, court order, or governmental authority.
• Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to you.

You have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data at any time from your account settings.
• Portability: Request an export of your data in a machine-readable format.
• Objection: Object to processing of your personal data in certain circumstances.

We use only essential cookies required for authentication (session tokens managed by Supabase). We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics cookies.

Memex is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately.
